Had to interrupt the ongoing series on Inner Mongolia because this noodle dish is seasonal: 三虾面 “triple shrimp” noodles.
稍微打断之前正在发布的内蒙系列,因为赶上了时令末班车,吃了顿三虾面。

After talking about noodles of Suzhou’s Wujiang District so many time before, finally a video about “traditional” noodles of Suzhou downtown.
在多次介绍苏州吴江区的面条之后,终于轮到正儿八经的传统苏式面了。

Though some locals (wrongly) consider the 三虾面 to be the opposite of tradition and instead a new invention that targets tourists. Recently I read an article that ridicules 三虾面, with many local readers expressing their agreements.
虽然某些老苏州 (错误地) 宣称三虾面并非”传统”苏式面,而是专卖游客的玩意儿。最近看到一篇文章抨击三虾面,评论区当中不少本地读者大声喝彩。

The author’s central argument is that outsiders shouldn’t flock to Suzhou for a taste of the famous 三虾面 because the dish isn’t as as exquisite as the high price suggests, since much of the ingredients can be purchased online instead of being prepared manually by restaurant staff.
作者的核心观点是外地人不该为了一碗网红三虾面跑到苏州,因为所谓的”精致”与”时令”实际上都可以在网上买到。

Many Suzhou readers concurred, adding that they’ve never heard of 三虾面 until a few years ago. Some even claim the noodle shop 裕兴记 (where I had my first bowl of 三虾面) invented this dish specifically for tourists, and marketed the noodles with labels associated with the Jiangnan region and particularly Suzhou, such as “painstaking labor” (i.e. sophistication) and “seasonality” I spoke of.
许多老苏州表示赞同,并声称几年前才听说过三虾面,还有的说这面是裕兴记 (我拔草三虾面的店,还有秃黄油) 针对游客发明的东西,广告语亦是瞄准外地消费者。

There are certain grains of truth…interspersed among a ton of crap. I will post my defense of 三虾面 in the “description” section of the next video, also about more “triple shrimp” noodles.
说的并非全错…大部分而已,在下一集视频的”描述”板块里看我怎么打脸。

PPS: About the sudden change to landscape mode. Whilst editing clips from Inner Mongolia, I realized that a lot of visual impacts from the scenery to the food have been ruined because I filmed in portrait, so for the latest videos I’ll experiment with the horizontal orientation.
至于”画风突变”改为水平模式,是因为剪辑内蒙视频的时候遗憾地发现肖像模式丢失了太多视觉元素,所以正尝试拍摄横屏视频,且看效果如何。
