Jianbing is the BEST Chinese street food there is. Hands down. Even if you disagree with me, I know deep down you WANT to agree, because jianbing is a gift from the heavens. Well, not really. It’s a gift from the Shandong Province dating back 2,000 years, when Chancellor Zhuge Liang told his soldiers to use flat copper griddles and shields for cooking after they lost their woks. The result: the soldiers won the battle and jianbing was born!

I used to live in the Shandong Province, where jianbing grows on trees… That was just a joke. But it feels that way, since jianbing vendors are on almost every street corner, and it’s so outrageously cheap (~$0.50 per jianbing)!
