There’s an old villa on a hill. Actually it is a small mountain with some interesting history, called Moganshan. House 23 is the villa on the top; from its terrace you overlook the Zhejiang plain, with views stretching almost all the way back to Shanghai. It is the nearest (small) mountain to Shanghai, and House 23 is the nicest (big) house on it.

House 23 was built in the 1930s and for the first time since its original owners left, it has been restored to its former glory perhaps even more than its former glory, as there was neither hot running water nor central heating in those days.

With six comfortable bedrooms, cozy bar and lounge with a fireplace, large dining room, children’s playroom, and fully-equipped kitchen (for self caterers), House 23 offers a flexible space for everyone. The extensive garden and porch areas with stunning views complete the atmosphere. Moganshan House 23 has recreated exactly what Moganshan was meant for: a blissfully peaceful, country getaway for families and stressed out city dwellers, offering cool breezes in the summer and a cozy retreat in winter.

Groups of families, gangs of friends, and individual travelers looking for an intimate atmosphere all are welcome at House 23. We even offer space for corporate retreats, workshops and conferences, so long as there is time set aside to relax and watch the sunset. Creative types looking for inspiration may well find it here, too.

Browse the website (www.moganshanhouse23.com) and tell us what sort of getaway you are looking for. We’re happy to help you arrange the perfect escape.
