Anhui, referred to as WAN, is the provincial capital of Hefei. Anhui culture has a long history and consists of four cultural circles: Huizhou culture, Huaihe culture, Wanjiang culture and Luzhou culture. Anhui is known as the hometown of Chinese opera. Anhui drama performance art has a long history, many varieties, and famous artists emerge one after another. There are more than 30 kinds of local operas, including Huangmei Opera, Hui opera, Lu opera, Sizhou opera, Zhuizi opera, huagudeng opera, Tuju opera, Haizi opera, Wennan Ci, Mulian opera, Hangong opera, sipingdiao, Hongshan opera, Taihu Quzi opera, huaiqiang opera, danqiang opera, etc. Huangmei Opera, formerly known as Huangmei tune or Tea Picking Opera, is one of the five major operas in China. Huizhou opera is one of the main sources of Beijing opera. The Nuo opera in Chizhou is known as the “living fossil of drama”, and the flower drum lantern popular on both sides of the Huaihe River is known as “Oriental ballet”.
